How ARL EasySpark Metal Analyzers Work?
ARL EasySpark Metal Analyzers work using spark emission spectroscopy (OES) to determine the elemental composition of metals and alloys. A high-voltage spark is generated between an electrode and the metal sample, vaporizing a tiny portion of the surface and exciting its atoms. These excited atoms emit light at characteristic wavelengths, which is captured by a high-resolution CCD optical system. The analyzer’s software then measures the intensity of each wavelength to identify and quantify elements from trace levels to major constituents, providing fast, accurate, and non-destructive analysis of metals in seconds.

FAQs
It is used for rapid and accurate elemental analysis of metals and alloys, from major elements to trace impurities.
It can analyze steel, aluminum, copper, titanium, nickel, and most other metallic alloys.
It uses spark emission spectroscopy (OES), where a spark excites atoms in the metal, and emitted light is measured to identify and quantify elements.
Analysis is completed within seconds, allowing real-time quality control in production environments.
Minimal preparation is needed; the sample surface should be clean and flat to ensure accurate spark excitation.
Industries include steel, aluminum, foundries, metal recycling, automotive, and aerospace for quality control and alloy verification.
