How Surfix® EX Coating Thickness Gauge Work?
The Surfix® EX Coating Thickness Gauge works by using non‑destructive measurement principles to determine the thickness of coatings on different types of substrates. For ferrous (magnetic) materials, it employs magnetic induction, where changes in the magnetic field between the probe and the substrate caused by the coating are measured. For non‑ferrous (non‑magnetic) materials, it uses eddy current technology, which detects changes in induced electrical currents due to the coating layer. When the interchangeable probe is placed on the coated surface, the gauge measures these changes and converts them into a coating thickness value displayed on the screen. With internal data storage, statistics, and USB/Bluetooth connectivity, it’s ideal for quality control, inspection, and reporting of painted, plated, or protective coatings in industrial environments.
